Although Wayeta has not trained professionally, she has always loved music and grew up singing everything she heard, including Gospel, soul, jazz and rock. She however admits that Gospel music was what she picked up the most. Over the years, Wayeta has been inspired by artists such as Yolanda Adams, Ella Fitzgerald and Kim Burrell. She hopes to in the near future record an EP/electric album and hopes the competition will help her achieve her dream. 34 year old Wayeta attends Globe Church of God Worldwide Mission

Paulina Odongo

Paulina Odongo

At 55, Paulina Odongo is the oldest contestant in the competition. She has years of singing experience under her belt, having been singing since the age of six. This mother of two who lives in Buckinhamshire is also Senior Pastor at the church of God of Prophecy Southall. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Paulina is a singer and song writer and a member of the International Guild of singers and composers. She has a great love and passion for ministering the word of God in song and in recent years has conducted government funded community music projects for children and young people. In 2008 she also self-funded a charity album “Listen the Spirit is Calling”.

Over the years, Paulina has been inspired by artists such as Ella fitzgerald, Bill Gaither songs and Shirley Caesar. Her dream is to win the competition and the prize of a recording contract to advance her singing ministry.

Adenike Seriki

Adenike Seriki

Adenike Seriki has always had a passion for music and spent most of her childhood years glued to the TV watching programmes like Top of the Pops, dreaming of how she would travel to America some day and become a worldwide singing sensation. After getting saved at the age of 17, Adenike’s taste in music changed. Over the years, she has been influenced by artists like Bebe and Cece Winans, Helen Baylor, Fred Hammond, James Moss, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.

Until recently Adenike was a member of Glory House and served as a lead singer and Praise and Worship leader.  She featured on two of the Church’s CD’s and has been privileged to minister as a member of the choir  with Brenda Ellis of the Potters House and Darwin Hobbs. She has also had the privilege of singing at various Christian Conferences and Events. Adenike sees herself as a contemporary gospel artist who is able to manoeuvre between both youthful up tempo sounds and more old school gospel sounds. 40 year old Adenike entered the competition as she sees it as a wonderful opportunity to extend her ministry beyond the four walls of her church.

Lauron Samms

Lauron-Samms

Lauron Samms started rapping in his local church from the age of 17. Over the years, he has had the opportunity of performing on various stages and to varied audiences, both within and outside the church. These opportunities gave Lauron the much needed experience he required and he quickly grew in confidence learning the art of standing out among other talented rappers and performers. As a gospel rap artist, Lauron could be likened to artists like Lecrae. He however does not want to put himself in a box and understands the need to be versatile and creative in ministry.

Given the opportunity, Lauron would like to reach the unsaved through his music as he does not want his ministry to be just within the four walls of the church. Asked what makes him unique, Lauron states “My personality is definitely one of my strongest points as it clearly comes through into my music. I am naturally fun, entertaining, energetic and most of all down to earth.” Lauron is 24 years old and attends Bethel London’s Riverside Church

Paula Whitely

Paula Whitely

Paula has sung in gospel choirs and worship teams for about 20 years, although she has never trained professionally. She however writes her own songs and has recently been recording her own material with her daughter also a finalist on the show. Paula from Petersborough has been inspired over the years by the likes of Yolanda Adams and Cece Winans. Paula’s style as an artist is quite classic and she loves singing ballads. Paula wants to influence a lot of people with her music and says of herself, “I have a heart for the Lord and love to worship. For me that comes first. Winning and competing comes after”. Paula is 42 and attends the New Testament Church of God in St Neots.

Jamison Cole

Jamison Cole

Jamison Cole studied Music Technology and discovered very soon discovered he had a great love for singing, writing and performing. Jamison worked with a music charity for two years after which he went on to do a creative gap year course in evangelism through music.

Originally from Scotland Jamison Cole has a heart for the lost and broken and wants to reach out to them through his music.  Jamison produces music, and also does programming. Jamison Cole’s inspirations include DC Talk, Petra, Worldwide Message Tribe, The Smiths and Justin Timberlake. Jamison’s sound is Dubb-step, Drum and Bass. Jamison says “I’m real! I want to give hope to those who can’t find any”. Jamison aged 23 lives in Manchester and attend Christ Church.

Katie-Ruth Staniec

Katie-Ruth’s first memory of being on stage was when she was 8years old and did a school play in her church. Her pastor identified her unique talent immediately and arranged for her to sing at her church’s New Year’s Eve service. Katie-Ruth regularly sings on the streets of Manchester at outreach events organised by her church and also sings with her church worship team.

Over the years Katie-Ruth has been inspired by the likes of Rachael Lampa, Crystal Lewis and Mary Mary and sees herself as a contemporary artist and hopes to create music with great vibe but also with a Godly message that can appeal not only to Christian youths, not also to non believers. Katie-Ruth says of herself “I am a bubbly person and love to engage in everything. I love to try new things and I love to entertain people. Vote for me and I will bring you a show that’s Just out of This World!” Katie-Ruth is 19 years old and attends the New Harvest Christian Fellowship in Manchester.

Rachel Whitely

Although Rachel has had no formal training, she has been singing from the age of two and currently sings with NTCG National Youth Choir. Rachel’s inspirations come from a varied mix including Kiki Sheard, Shirley Ceaser, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary and Guvna B. Rachel describes her sound as soulful, gospel and jazzy and she just wants to share the message God has given her through her music. Rachel aged 16 attends the New Testament Church of God in St Neots. Asked what makes her “Just out of this World” Rachel says “I’m different and my connection with God makes me just out of this world.”

The Just out of this World Quarter Finals on Saturday was a blast! The performances from the contestants were simply amazing and of course our guest artists, JC3 raised the roof! The lively audience and some controversial judging from our judging panel all served to spice up the night!

In the end only 11 contestants could make it through to the semi-finals, and here they are. Left to right, front – The Sisters, Paulina Odongo & Katie-Ruth Staniec.
